Great Books Book Club

Our book for April is The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan.  The novel tells the stories of four pairs of mothers and daughters set in San Francisco of the 1980s.  The mothers all emigrated from China, and the daughters are all born in the U.S., so there are issues of cultural conflict, generational conflict, and coming-of-age issues, and they all come together in a mahjong group they call the Joy Luck Club.
