Program Description
Description
Are you a member of the Friends of the Saginaw Public Libraries or interested in joining? We welcome all members and potential members to attend our annual meeting as we celebrate 28 years as an organization dedicated to supporting the Public Libraries of Saginaw.
Stephanie Reinhardt, Branch Head of Hoyt Library, will be our guest speaker. She will share information about LENA Start, an evidence-based community program designed to engage families and help them learn how to increase conversation with their children during the first few years of life. Interactive talk, specifically, back-and-forth conversation, has been proven to be a key factor in healthy early brain development. However, most families don't know how much they're talking to or with their children. LENA Start uses patented "talk pedometer" technology to measure their child's language environment. Starting this fall, the Public Libraries of Saginaw will begin offering the LENA Start curriculum. It includes ten weekly sessions that can be delivered virtually or in person. Families will explore this data in the form of personalized, actionable feedback reports, and discuss strategies with their peers to increase the quality and quantity of talk at home.
This is a great time to learn more about the Friends of PLOS and everything we do for the branches. Light refreshments will be served. We hope to see you there!
