Book Discussion- Moby Dick

Join us at the Hoyt library for a discussion of Melville's Classic Moby Dick.

This discussion is in conjunction with the Riverside Saginaw Film Festival' screening of Call Us Ishmael, a 2018 Michigan film.  An intimate look at the world’s obsession with Herman Melville’s “Moby Dick,” which many consider the great American novel. Dozens of historians, artists, philosophers and fanatics explore the novel’s artistic and cultural legacy and impact. Through filmmaker David Shaerf, an assistant professor at Oakland University, these enthusiast tell how the novel has not only affected their lives but created a community brought together through the love of a book. 

The book discussion is free and open to anyone.  For those who would like to stay for the film, there is a $6 charge for admission.
